The Diner

The Big Top Diner is one of a scattering of them throughout the city, but this one Charles has decided is the right option for the meeting. It is in a central location for everyone who may need to work, it has space for them, and its quality is acceptable to him. Mostly. There is something very retro about the booths and tables, straight out of a 50's diner which is familiar to Charles, with a little radio at every location that currently plays only pop songs from the 90's.

Charles sent each of his people a personal invitation written on paper that is not up to his quality but it'll have to do. He has very nice handwriting and those who have known him over time would recognize it instantly.

Charles Xavier would appreciate your attendance at the Big Top Diner at 9 AM on Sunday. We will discuss the situation and our community here. Thank you.

He hopes that people understand the invitation is for (1) person and not to bring everyone they know, but he's a gracious host, he would accept anyone.

When people arrive, Charles will already have organized a set up of booths with tables and chairs extended for the guests. They take up a side corner of the diner and a waitress named Beatrix is ready to take orders. She favors him with a warm smile but everyone else with professional disinterest. He's only invited a certain amount of people so he doesn't expect them to need more space.

The Meeting

He is seated when people arrive with a cup of tea in front of him and a notebook that he found at the resort. Charles greets everyone with his characteristic friendliness and a certain brightness, glad to be there, glad to see them. He's fired up with the energy of having mutants around him again. Once his guest list arrives, he gestures for everyone to either stand or sit to their comfort.

"Thank you for coming. Our conversations while in this diner will be private, so you can speak freely." Meaning that Charles himself is handling it so that no one in this diner will listen to them. They'll hear white noise and nothing of consequence, their minds convinced that's all there is.

"Please for now, do not start any conflict. I can't stop you outside of here, but within this bubble, I would appreciate peace." This is not even subtle in how he flickers his eyes at Erik, the only 'villain' amongst them who could inspire conflict, and then back to the others.

"I thought it would be a good idea for us to meet up and connect, considering we seem to mostly be from the same world. As some of you know, my school was for helping people with powers learn how to use them and to connect with people like them. I am not formally restarting the school or the X-Men, but there have been others I've met here with abilities who could use a community. So I encourage you to remember that going forward and maybe connect them if you find them with me or any of us. Thank you for listening, I'm here if anyone wants to talk."
